greenValue coordinated the completion of the Gordemitz biogas plant near Leipzig as project manager on behalf of Leipziger BALANCE Erneuerbare Energien GmbH (BALANCE), one of the leading German biogas plant operators. Biomethane has now been fed into the network of the national transmission system operator ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH for the first time. “Despite the difficulties of the corona pandemic, the very tight schedule was maintained. Around nine months have passed since construction work began,” says Daniel Kellermann, Managing Director of greenValue GmbH.

Thomas Fritsch, Managing Director of BALANCE, is also very pleased with the rapid progress of the project: “The efforts of the past few months have been worth it. With the biomethane feed-in now taking place, the key project milestone has been reached on time. The operation of the Gordemitz biogas plant increases regional added value and creates jobs.”

The final work that is still outstanding due to the weather will be completed in the coming weeks. The amount of biomethane produced and fed in will be steadily increased in the coming months. After regular operations begin, around 47,000 tons of substrates in the form of manure and renewable raw materials will be fermented per year. The raw biogas produced is cleaned in the biogas processing plant using physical pressure washing (performance class 1,400 Nm³ / h) and transferred to the biogas feed system for feeding into the gas network.
